Little Paris of Middle Europe or Budapest is divided in two – Buda and Pest – by the River Danube. The two parts are unique on their own and together reflect the 1,000-year-old culture, beginning with the Celtics. Remains from both Roman occupation and later the Turks can still be seen in the city. After the Ottoman Empire, the union with Austria has also influenced the city. While Buda is filled with medieval streets and houses, museums, caves and Roman ruins, Pest boasts of the largest parliament building in Europe, promenades, flea markets, bookstores, antique stores and café houses.
